Breaking Down Jets 2026-27 Cap Situation
At 4 PM Eastern on March 11, 2026, the new league year begins for the National Football League. Let’s take a look at how the cap situation for the New York Jets breaks down for the entire league year.
First and foremost, all of the information regarding the cap isn’t publicly available. So, it’s not completely going to be accurate. The only information available is the current cap space available, which will be used as the cap carryover, the incentives, and the per-game roster bonuses.
For the cap number, I will use the number from the NFLPA Public Cap Report, and for the league base cap projection, I will use the number from Over the Cap.
Over the Cap is projecting the 2026 league base cap to be $295.5 million.
As of the writing of this article, the Jets have 30 players signed to the active roster through next season and 30 players accounting for dead cap next season. According to Over the Cap, the cap charges total $214,984,029.
For incentives and per-game roster bonuses, there are two categories. If an incentive or per-game roster bonus is not likely to be earned, it wasn’t earned in 2024 and didn’t count against the cap for 2025. If earned, an adjustment will be made, and the Jets will lose cap space. For likely to be earned incentives and per-game roster bonuses, the inverse is true.
Right now, it looks like there will be a net loss of $4,332,222 to the Jets cap space in 2026. Here’s who I think will earn NLTBE and who I know won’t earn LTBE.

According to the current NFLPA Public Salary Cap Report, the Jets have $18,072,410 in cap space left through March 10, 2026. They will undoubtedly carry over 100% of the unused cap space from this year into next. Frankly, it doesn’t make any sense not to for any team.
With all of that information, here’s where the Jets stand in cap space.
This means from March 11, 2026, until the end of the 2026-27 league year, the Jets will have $94,246,159 in cap space available. There’s plenty of space to continue to build this team via the offseason and in-season moves for Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn.
